The forces of evil have been defeated in this period. Goodness and harmony reign.

Xixbythe, a different world in medieval times Empty Xixbythe

Xyxbythe is an isolated area in the middle of a vast continent. It is surrounded by a desert on the East, a barren and mostly uninhabited plain on the south, an icy though not so high mountain range on the North and a high mountain range on the West. Rivers flow from both mountain ranges and end in a lake in the middle of Xyxbythe. Near the rivers and around the lake called Xyxbythe Lake the land is fertile and agriculture is practiced here. Toward the south and east the land becomes drier and less and less fertile. Most of the population is concentrated in the fertile areas. Toward the north and west beyond the settled agricultural areas there are huge forests of pine trees in the north and various deciduous trees in the west.

A long time ago several tribes of humans and other creatures had discovered the fertile valleys and plains around the lake and began settling there. At first they hardly noticed each other and when they did their dealings were peaceful. But in time, as the populations grew, there was competition for the land and small skirmishes. Then a drought which lasted twenty years befell the land. The rivers dried up already in early summer before crops were ready to be harvested, the water in the lake became fetid and people got sick from drinking it. The stronger tribes attacked the weaker. Each group developed their defenses as best they could and a century of wars began. By the end of that time the population had been decimated, and once thriving villages were reduced to poverty and despair.
But the war finally ended. Whether the most aggressive tribes, both human and non-human, left the area because there was nothing more to steal there, or whether they just blended in and simply stopped fighting is unknown. Since then the valleys and lake area have become fertile again, though not as they had been before the troubles. And people go about their business in peace.
